Motorola makes great phones, but I especially like their modability. The V series phones especially can be modified more than most other types of phones. This page will only concentrate on the v551 / v330 / v547 / v555 / v557 model, but you can find information on other phones at the sites below.

I had already modified my old phone, a motorola v180. I decided that when I got a new phone it would be another Motorola V series because they are fun, so I bought a v557 from Cingular.

Before you start, this guide includes information I have collected from all over the internet. I can't guarantee that you will have these same results. I have only tried this procedure on the v557 model from Cingular. If anything goes wrong during this process, you can make your phone useless.

Open PST, connect and install your phone. PST will be the program that connects to the phone, the drivers only work while PST is open, everything else will piggy back off of this.

Open P2kTools, click on "Tools" from the file menu, and click on "Outer LCD Text". From here you can load what is currently set on the phone, type in what you want and save it to the phone. Restart the phone and the changes should take effect the next time you open the phone.
